Some Of The Comments From People Who Have Come To The Previous UK Screenings

Hi Keith, it was good to meet you too - I watched the film the other night and cried the whole way through. People need to see this; my sister watched it and promptly became vegetarian and an 'animal friendly' consumer (including chucking out all her dove shampoo!) so it did its job!

Hey Keith, It was good to meet you on the demo yesterday. You wont believe what’s happened! I have been pestering my husband for 25 years to go vegetarian, we both watched the film you gave me last night and - oh my god - he has done! Thank you, this means so much to me. I hope it affects others the same. I will be showing to everyone I can. For the animals
- Jill

I watched behind the mask millions of times, first time on the gathering this year in Kent and cant stop talking to our activists in Croatia about it...thanks for inspiration!
- Yassa

“I saw Behind The Mask at the Ritzy on Monday and it has really had a big impact on me”
- Roanna Schneider.

“Gave Mask to a colleague to watch and she just called me sobbing. Says she is going veg and gonna come to Oxford on 21st. Wicked!”
- Kerry

“Hey Keith, hope alls well… My friend Tracey said to tell u that her teen daughters turned vegan after seeing BTM!”

“Just wanted to say how fantastic the film was last night at the Basement. It moved me to tears but has only reinforced that there are some fantastic people in this crap world and we must never give up fighting for the animals.”
- Gilly

Just like to say after watching "Behind the mask" it has totally inspired me to continue the fight for animals. Thank you for making the film, the whole country should watch it...maybe one day!
- Janet.

Having previously read about length of time it took to make of the film I was intrigued as to what was going to be covered. I'm well accustomed to the horrific abuses that are committed to animals to a point sometimes I feel 'hardened' by images I see. Behind the mask went that stage further; it gave a true, in-depth depiction of why people who passionately care about animals are prepared to redress injustices served upon them. It was well directed, incredibly well researched and I particularly liked the choice of music - which gave a humorous edge, which I also felt necessary, given some of the content. It made me smile, but I also shed a tear. I left the auditorium feeling inspired by witnessing the activists’ tenacity.

I have seen the film and think it does show the different approaches to animal abuse well. I think showing scientists against vivisection is a good advert and showing animals in their living state as sentient beings, ie having a lamb in a child’s arm or people patting a calf or pig etc, then showing them being systematically murdered. Veganism as the main theme. Anyway the film is a great idea and I will try to get a copy of it soon. regards
- S.P.Jones

I have been a Vegan activist for almost 5 years now, but as someone who is tied by a mortgage/bills etc. I could only be active at weekends & the odd week day... things have changed since I saw the film & I'm now throwing myself into activism big-time, mortgage/bills etc come 2nd now, the fate of animals is far more important! Non-Vegans/Veggies mostly are not safe round me any more, coz I constantly make them feel guilty!
- Miranda

I am so pathetically excited about this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is going to make such a difference, am bouncing off the freaking walls here!
- K

The film was a very thought provoking and well made documentary which gave a realistic insight into animal cruelty. I cannot say it changed my eating habits because I am there already but I like to think it influenced less committed people.
- Adrian

I had already seen the film but took my 19yr old daughter to see it. I'd been trying to persuade her to give up dairy for months to no avail, she couldn't bare to give up cheese. After seeing the film she went VEGAN!! She is also going to be more active and is coming to Oxford. Her boyfriend has turned veggie too and turned up at the Harrods fur demo!
- Tracey

First showing felt upset, frustrated, disgusted, seeing footage of slaughter etc (not actually seen before), and as for that baby 'Britches'. Can't get the little face out of my head, what I could do. Wow, when you see film there's really no escape. To me, this is key to changing people, as opposed to pictures/posters. With film, if only for seconds, something will remain in memory, be it visual or sound. I instantaneously felt compelled/need to do so much more, but how? All rational thought disappeared, and suddenly found myself saying to friend next to me, must see to my cats, just in case. Have thought this before though, very recently, witnessing calves exported at Dover. Jesu Christo! Almost sent my mad. The filth that came out my mouth!! And developed 'The Dover Shakes'. Made me realise, what do I need - nothing. Nowt to lose. This shit has to stop!! Cannot go to Dover again, painful and futile, unless there is a plan.
Sorry, back to film. Second time seeing film, more tearful, (missed bits first time, so much to take in) and really angry. Bloody sickened to be in this world, I am sure I should have been born to another life. I don't belong here or even want to. I ask all the time, please let change happen soon!!!!! How much more?
Overall, a good first film. Areas could be expanded regarding professionals speaking out. The fearful, unenlightened public, need to hear facts that will penetrate their thoughts and resonate. The public ultimately want truth. Make it so that those lying bastards are buried to the ground with no return!! Famous stars influence greatly, as you know. (Shame it comes to this for people to notice - Shallow). There must be some sympathetic compassionate ones, who can give up some time and make a difference. Get them involved for impact. And sadly, show more graphic images - let them have it, til they cant bear to eat another slab of dead flesh without feeling physically sick!! You could have flashing images interrupting discussions between people, intermittently. This has the viewer seeing an image for a split second, but will affect the mind to want to see it again, as it did not have time to register fully, what had been seen. When the image appears again, it will reinforce the image first time round, and will send a shock in the system. Less is more. The human mind is curious, and tricks can be played for maximum impact.
Looking forward to film 2

Hi! I had to comment because this film was probably the best and most moving film I've ever seen. I think you and Sharon have created it exactly right to combine not only the cruelty of animal testing, meat eating and fur wearing etc with the absolute futility of it all. It made me turn from being veggie to vegan straight away, it is an absolutely brilliant film. I honestly can't find anything negative to say and I only wish more people I know who eat meat and aren't interested in animal rights see it. It really motivated me even more to go out and do something about animal rights by the way it combined footage from Martin Luther King's speeches and protests in the past. Thank you and congratulations for creating such an amazing film.
- Kathy Barrow.

You are something else and have left a big imprint on me and my family. I am so grateful to you for encouraging me to come to the screening. I have seen you on the streets campaigning for many years but never heard you speak publicly until last night. I don’t want to sound like a sycophant but you should understand that the overwhelming consensus among those who care about other animals is that you are a very real hero of our time. I don’t know how anyone could criticise you for what you do, if I hear of anyone doing so I have pledged to give them a copy of Behind The Mask and then see what they have to say! This film is indeed life changing and everyone needs to see it.
- BK

Everyone must see Behind The Mask, if you can't get to a screening please buy the DVD. This is ESSENTIAL viewing whichever side of the fence you sit on. I was at the Leeds screening today, I met some great people and felt truly inspired to get more involved (again) I understand the venue has not been quite so packed in a long time and deservedly so! Thanks Keith, great to hook up with you again ;)
For The Animals!
